Vitamin E for excessive shedding

Vitamin E for excessive shedding

To stop excessive shedding, give your dog 1000mg Vitamin E each day, for 5 days in succession. Then give 500mg Vitamin E each day for the next five days. While they are getting  the vitamins, run a stripper blade over them every day to get out as much loose hair as possible. Tara has a pile of hair every day that could stuff a mattress!

Tara has a different coat from the typical Dane "hard" coat. Her hair is very soft and feels like silk velvet, but it's a double coat, like a Lab. Her breeder called it a "German coat" and tells me that one puppy in each generation seems to inherit it. Tara's great grandfather was a German champion, and Tara's line is chunkier in build, you can see the mastiff influence in them. And wonderful temperaments! But when she sheds, she SHEDS!

Anyway, this has worked fine for us, and you can repeat it whenever necessary. We usually have to do this 2 or 3 times a year on Tara. It has nothing to do with being kept indoors or out, they just have a totally different type of coat.
