Danes There are
a few different kinds of infections that can occur in danes' ears. 1)
Bacterial infection - can be treated with a thorough cleaning and antibiotics -
weekly cleaning can help prevent recurrence 2) Fungal
(yeast) infection - can be treated with an antifungal medication and a thorough
cleaning - weekly cleaning and keeping the ears dry can help prevent
recurrence 3)
Parasitic infection - caused by a type of mange mite that lives in the ear, this
kind of infection is not as common as bacterial or fungal infections.
Antibiotics may be given to relieve inflammation, as well as topical
pesticides. Use of certain heartworm preventions like Interceptor or Ivermectin
may help prevent recurrence. |
