Dane So you think you want a Great Dane? Good! Have
you considered how large this pet will be? How much it will eat? If you have,
have you considered rescuing a dane? There are many dane rescue organizations that can help. If you are
looking for a breeder, make sure to check the breeder out yourself. Many trips
to their kennel will help you make a decision. Not all people who show their
dogs are good breeders. Not all large breeders are good breeders. Not all small
breeder are good breeders. That is why it is important
to check them out in person. Have you studied about the breed? Danes have
special problems that you need to make sure the sire and dam have both been
checked for to make sure you getting a healthy pup. Rescued Danes - When
looking to get a dane for my
family I looked into rescued danes. They will not,
under any circumstances, allow a family to adopt a dane if they have children under the age of eight
(this depends on the individual rescue). This was about 8 - 9 months ago so I
would guess they still follow this rule. They said that due to not knowing what
has been done to the rescued dog it could be dangerous to a small child. Also,
they don't know if the dog may have been bred to try to fight or whatever. I
think rescue is great but if you have little ones this may be a consideration.
