Date Posted:05/09/2018 1:28 AMCopy HTML I'm looking for some homeopathic treatments for this stuff. My vet put him on Galliprant but I don't want to keep Bean on meds indefinitely. He gets very patchy scabby blotches. They itch, get red and then scab over. Then it turns dry and white and peels off like dandruff. Then the fur grows back in. His coat is still shiny and all but with these stupid bumpy scabs here and there. I feel so bad for him. It just pops up all over his body. He's been vet checked several times and the vet just chalks it up to life in Florida. He's my first Dane with this type of skin issue. Ida used to have dry crackly nose problems but that's it.
Any suggestions?? p.s. Vet says it's environmental and not food. He's on organic (Fromms) and also gets coconut oil, turmeric and a probiotic. If you want the best seat in the house, you'll have to move the dog.

Re:Bean has skin allergies. Date Posted:05/09/2018 3:32 AMCopy HTML I have had good luck using the aloe Vera plant. It has healing qualities. I'm guessing it tastes disgusting because when I've clipped a leaf off and put the sap on a hot area they leave it alone. I use it on our cuts and scrapes also. I always have an inside plant that I can use for holistic remedies. jeri My Funny Girl

Re:Bean has skin allergies. Date Posted:06/25/2018 12:42 AMCopy HTML Roz, I am sorry, I have no suggestions. Genny had long term skin conditions caused by a pour-on flea repellent. Our vet stopped carrying it after her issues. Fortunately, both Mosie and Si Si have wonderful, healthy skin. And we use an oral flea and tick preventative.

Re:Bean has skin allergies. Date Posted:06/25/2018 10:40 PMCopy HTML I just saw this, Roz. I am going to look up what I used to give Noah and Helen.
Noah was on allergy shots because his allergies were so bad. Helen was a deaf white dane and had horrible skin issues. I'll look and see what I used for them. Phyl

Re:Bean has skin allergies. Date Posted:06/26/2018 12:01 PMCopy HTML Any particular time of year that it happens? One thing you can try is when he comes in from outside wipe him down with either scent free wipes or a damp towel, wash cloth, paper towel.... paying particular attention to areas he gets the most reaction and to his paws..You can also add some apple cider vinegar to water and use that to wipe him down with the mixture once or twice a day Dale Danes Are Great!!
